LEXINGTON, OH - Ever wonder when is the best time to buy local produce?  Visiting your farmers market is fun and can provide a bounty of fresh locally grown produce that would otherwise already be days if not weeks old if bought from the grocery store.

 

Here in Richland and Ashland county the following is a traditional harvest schedule for the various fruits and vegetables that are grown locally and can be a good guide to what to expect.

While I realize wild turkeys are not a fruit nor vegetable they are an Ohio staple and there are many free range turkey farms in the area that offer fresh locally raised turkeys for the holidays.
