MANSFIELD, OH - Local Marine decides to take on life one house at a time!

Marine Dustin Griffith, new owner of American Home Inspections, returned home from active military duty in May of 2010.  Upon his return, like all veterans, he was faced with making decisions about his future, his ways and means, and what was best for his family.   With this in mind American Home Inspections was founded in July of 2014.

 

Born and raised in Ontario, Ohio; Dustin is a Graduate of Ontario High School, where after Graduation he joined the Marine Corps where he served the majority of his time in Okinawa, Japan, as an explosive expert.  Now living in Mansfield; Dustin felt his military training did not offer the kind of skill set that he required for the kind of work he wanted to pursue in civilian life.  So taking advantage of his GI Bill Dustin is currently attending college with the goal of completing a BS in Business from The Ohio State University.

Meanwhile Dustin has paid out of his own pocket for further training so that he could embrace his current business with pride and has graduated from the HomeSpection Training Institute out of Canton, Ohio.  Dustin points out that "Ohio Laws do not require a home inspectors to be certified.  Anyone can call themselves a home inspector, but I am fully certified and a member of the International Association of Home Inspectors".

When I asked Dustin why a marine would choose to inspect houses over a more exciting career he said 'Working with different people all the time and getting to be somewhere new every day is good but ultimately being able to spend more time with my family is what sold me on the idea.  Besides, I was explosive experts in the marine corps and I don't think my family could handle any more excitement.'
