LOUDONVILLE, OH:  Experience the Great Mohican Pow-Wow July 8  - 10 at the Mohican Reservation Campgrounds

Pow-Wow time is the Native American people's way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships and making new ones.

This is a time to renew thought of the old ways and to preserve a rich heritage.

There are several different stories of how the Pow-Wow was started. Some believe that the war dance societies of the Ponca and other Southern Plains tribes were the origin of the Pow-Wow. Another belief is that when the Native Americans were forced onto reservations the government also forced them to have dances for the public to come and see. Before each dance they were led through the town in a parade, which is the beginning of the Grand Entry.

Tonight  Friday July 1st the American Federation of Musicians Local 159 Concert Band will dedicate the new Mansfield South Park Pavilion at 7PM with President of Council and Acting Mayor Phil Scott presiding.

The Concert Band will present a program entitled the melting pot, incorporating the phrase E Pluribus Unum “Out of many,one” in a musical setting.  In addition to many patriotic selections, there will be numerous songs that will be familiar to all that our immigrants brought with them that add to the rich heritage of our country.

For the first time, Mid-Ohio Opera and M.A.D. Studios will come together to present Opera & Art 2016, a multimedia experience for all ages. With several events to choose from, there is sure to be something for everyone - including a piece of community art for you to help create!

 Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat.
