Draxx writes:Recipe #1 Hand Dishwashing Liquid
- 2 Bars shredded Octagon soap
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup washing soda
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
Directions
Put shredded soap in 4 1/2- 5 quarts of water and melt on stove. When melted, turn stove off and add all other ingredients and stir. When cooled down, pour in sealed containers.
Use as you would any other dish detergent. The only thing is that it doesn't sud much, but gets dishes really clean. I keep a partial bar of Octagon soap by the sink to use when needed. I also use 1/8 cup of vinegar in the rinse water. Hope this works for you!Recipe #2 Dishwashing Liquid
3 tbs organic liquid castile soap
2 cups warm water
2 tsp vegetable glycerine
2 tbs white vinegar or lemon juice
10 drops lemon essential oil
* Mix thoroughly in a clean jar or bottle, and use 1 tbs at a time.
Lemon is renowned as a great grease-cutter. I also use the lemon juice as an excellent oven cleaner.
Recipe #3 Lavender-scented dish liquid
This dish liquid is thinner than regular dish liquid and does not make many suds, but I think it does a better job on greasy dishes and stubborn coffee stains on mugs. Not only does the lavender essential oil smell great, it is also antibacterial.
3 Tbsp. liquid lavender Castile soap
2 cups warm water
2 tsp. vegetable glycerin
2 Tbsp. white vinegar
10 drops lavender essential oil
Mix all ingredients in a jar, cover, and shake well to blend. I generally use about 1 Tbsp. for dishwashing.
Recipe # 4 Liquid Dishwashing Soap
3 tablespoons liquid castile soap (such as Dr. Bronner's)
2 cups hot water
2 teaspoons glycerin
10 drops of essential oil (whatever scent you like--change it up for a variety)
You just add all the ingredients into a squeeze bottle and shake them all up. Then, I use it to wash my dishes like I would any other dish soap.
Recipe #5 Homemade Dish Soap Recipe
1/4 cup soap flakes
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/4 cup glycerin
1/2 teaspoon lemon oil
Make the soap flakes by grating a bar of ivory with a cheese grater. Pour soap flakes into hot water. Stir until dissolved. let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in glycerin and lemon oil. A loose gel will form as it cools. Use a fork to break up any congealed parts and put it in a squirt bottle.
Recipe #6 Homemade Dish Soap
1 cup liquid Castile soap
3 tablespoons water
a few drops essential oil (if using unscented Castile soap)
Combine in a vessel of your choice (I use an old vinegar bottle with a metal spout), mix well, and use.
