Title: | Spoon Ring Workshop |
---|---|
Category: | Everything Else |
Location: | Mansfield Art Center |
Description: | Join instructor Kristin Ellis at the Mansfield Art Center to learn how to make an heirloom spoon ring from your family silverware or flea market find.
The spoon ring workshop will teach students basic metalsmithing skills, including annealing, cutting, sawing, filing, hammering, bending, sanding, and polishing. Students may be able to complete more than one ring if time permits. Beginners with no jewelry making experience are encouraged to bring extra silverware in case they run into problems on their first attempt. Spoons (or forks!) must be made of sterling silver or silver plated nonferrous metal. Steel and stainless steel are too hard to be worked with the MAC jewelry studio tools. If students are unsure, they can just bring them in for instructor approval the day of the workshop. A selection of spoons will be on hand for purchase in case a student doesn’t have a spoon made of workable metal. Register by Feb. 1st. Sunday, February 5th, 1-5pm Members $30 | Non-Members $40 Instructor: Kristin Ellis Register HERE |
