Each Saturday the Ohio Bird Sanctuary offers free "Nature Encounters".  Come enjoy a short presentation by one of the volunteers or staff starring one of the resident birds that have come to the sanctuary and could not be released back into the wild after rehabilitation.

You will learn about the species, what they eat, how they hunt, how they live, and their typical activities in the wild.

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a 501(3) non-profit organization which is dedicated to the rehabilitation of Ohio's native birds of prey and songbirds, with an emphasis on educating the community about conservation of our natural resources.

The Bird Sanctuary is open to the public and encompasses over 90 acres including; hiking trails, live bird of prey displays, and a walk-through songbird aviary. Visitors can purchase a small cup of meal worms in the Visitor Center and hand feed the aviary residents.

Parkrun organizes free, timed 5k runs every week in over 900 locations around the world. Same time, same place and at no cost. Ever. Free one-time registration gives you a unique bar code which is used to track participation and your run times. Parkrun is open to all - young, old, runners, walkers, joggers.

Mansfield, Ohio, Parkruns are a free, non-competitive 5K every Saturday (starting Jan. 21) from North Lake Park at 9 am. All ages and abilities welcome.

We invite you to join us January 21 at any participation level that is comfortable for you. Meet new friends or dedicate that time to be active on your own. Run, walk or jog there is no requirement!

What is Mansfield OH parkrun?

It is a 5km run - it's you against the clock.

When is it?

Every Saturday at 9:00am (October through April)
8:00am (May through September).

Where is it?

The event takes place at North Lake Park, 270 Rae Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903. .See Course page for more details

What does it cost to join in?

Nothing - it's free! but please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don't forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won't get a time.

How fast do I have to be?

We all run for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!

Feel the excitement and splendor of bold, colorful hot air balloons as they tower over you, then magically rise and soar away! Plus, enjoy lots of other activities: Balloon Glow, Balloon races, stage performances, sport tournaments, displays, exhibits, food and more. Everyone will enjoy the colorful Ashland skies as the hot air balloons fill the air for this memorable weekend.  Delight yourself in the festivities! Each year you attend you will have a new experience to treasure for years to come. Entertainment, music, shows, and an assortment of food vending is all part of the nonstop activities.

Over the past 27 years, even through the unpredictability of the weather, the Ashland Balloonfest has been a memorable weekend for the community of Ashland. There have always been over 20 to 30 balloons participating, with the record being 39 balloons in 2005, depending on pilot schedules and sponsorships available. In the past, there have been many shaped balloons such as a Santa Claus, Red Dragon, the Purple People Eater, a large-sized American flag, a pink monster truck, and even Gordo the Monkey.

To watch the Balloon Glow each night at 8:15pm is free. However, if you'd like a more special experience, you may be interested in the Balloon Glow Encounter.

Enjoy this up close experience like no one else. Balloon Glow Encounter offers you and 3 others a chance to enter the launch field 1 hour prior to balloon glow and watch the show inside the launch area (restricted to the public). 1 Ticket includes 1 parking pass, 4 Pepsi products, launch field entry for 4 people (1 hour prior to glow) and 1 official Balloonfest Souvenir. Balloon Glow is weather permitting. No refunds. Ticket purchase will become a tax-deductable donation upon request should weather ground balloons.

You can purchase add-on tickets for entry into launch field only.  Add-on ticket is good for launch field only, no additional parking passes. Pepsi vouchers and souvenirs will be given.
You will need 1 ticket for each person.
A ticket is needed for anyone 1 years of age and older for either ticket type (add-on or the 4 pack).

Family 4-pack Tickets: $50
Add-On Tickets: $12.50

Instructions: Show printed/mobile ticket to parking attendant (keep the ticket). Take printed/mobile ticket to Balloon Glow Encounter table near the information tent to receive: coupon for 4 drinks, 1 Official Balloonfest souvenir, and hand stamps for entry for 4 into launch field to watch the balloon glow. You are welcome to bring chairs, blankets, etc.

Get your 4th of July weekend off to a good start by visiting Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport to enjoy planes, good food, classic cars and more. 


 


The Mansfield Aviation Club (MAC) is pleased to announce that it will host a Fly-In (or drive to) Pancake Breakfast Plus on Saturday, July 1st at the Mansfield Lahm Airport pavilion. Breakfast will be served from 8 am to 11am, and shredded chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, Sloppy Joes & soft drinks from 11 am till 1 pm.

Weather permitting, in association with Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles Program, MAC pilots will offer free airplane rides to youngsters between the ages of 8-17 (a parent or guardian is required to register). Registration will begin at 1130 on the north ramp adjacent to Subway with flights between 12-2 pm.

Local pilots will be encouraged to open their hangars to display their aircraft.

There will be an antique car show, a C-130 on static display, and possibly an F-16 fly by.

Free Admission and Free Parking.

Saturday, July 1st from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

GET LOCKED UP as Beards of the Old Northwest - Beard & Mustache Club brings you a facial hair competition you'll have to SEE to believe -- at the world-famous Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio!  Also don't miss the Beards Behind Bars Welcome Party!



Walk the same halls as history's most infamous prisoners. Immerse yourself into the foundation that formed "The Shawshank Redemption". Hunt for the paranormal on the reformatory grounds.

Proceeds will go to benefit The Ohio State Reformation Society to help with restoration efforts on this historical landmark.

TICKETS

General Admission tickets for the event are $20.00.

General Admission tickets + a tour of the Ohio State Reformatory (a $12 value) on Saturday 7/1/17 are only $25.00! Self-guided tours start on Saturday, July 1st at 11 am and conclude at 4 pm, an hour before our event begins.

Doors open at 3 pm, the competition starts at 5 pm!
